1. Overview
Receipt Tracker ("the App") is designed with privacy as a core principle. All of your data — receipt images, expense records, and mileage logs — is stored exclusively on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We do not operate servers that collect or process your personal information.
2. Information We Collect
The App does not transmit any data to us. The following information is stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your personal iCloud account:
- Receipt images — photographs you capture or import of receipts and documents.
- Expense records — vendor names, amounts, tax values, dates, categories, and notes extracted from or entered manually for receipts.
- Mileage records — trip dates, purposes, distances, and report names you log.
- App settings — your preferred currency, distance unit, and deduction rate, stored locally via Apple's standard UserDefaults mechanism.
The App uses on-device OCR (Optical Character Recognition) via Apple's Vision framework to read text from receipt images. This processing happens entirely on your device; image data is never sent to a remote server.
3. Apple Intelligence (iOS 26+)
On supported devices running iOS 26 or later, the App may use Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models framework) to suggest an expense category based on the receipt vendor and text. This inference runs on-device using Apple's private and encrypted models. No receipt data is sent externally for this feature.
4. iCloud Sync and Storage
If you are signed into iCloud and have iCloud Drive enabled, the App syncs your data through Apple's CloudKit and iCloud Drive services. This means your data is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to this data — it is stored in your private iCloud container, not accessible to us.
Receipt images are stored as files in your iCloud Drive under a "Receipt Images" folder, visible in the iOS Files app. Structured records (amounts, dates, categories) are synced via CloudKit's private database.
If iCloud is disabled, all data remains on your device and is included in standard iTunes or iCloud device backups.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
The App offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions (monthly and yearly) through Apple's in-app purchase system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment card details or billing information. Your subscription status is verified through Apple's StoreKit framework.
For questions about billing, charges, or cancellations, please manage your subscription through your Apple ID settings or contact Apple Support.
6. Analytics and Tracking
The App does not include any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking frameworks. We do not track your behaviour across other apps or websites. We do not use device identifiers for advertising purposes.
7. Camera and Photo Library Access
The App requests access to your camera and photo library solely to allow you to capture or import receipt images. This access is used only when you explicitly initiate a scan or photo import. Images are processed on-device and stored locally or in your iCloud as described above.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that raises privacy concerns, please contact us at the address below.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data exists only on your device and in your personal iCloud account. You can delete all data at any time by:
- Using the "Clear All Data" option in the App's Settings (Debug mode), or deleting individual records within the App.
- Deleting the App from your device, which removes all locally stored data.
- Managing or deleting iCloud data through iOS Settings › [Your Name] › iCloud.
10. Security
All data files stored by the App use iOS file protection (NSFileProtectionCompleteUntilFirstUserAuthentication), meaning they are encrypted at rest and inaccessible when the device is powered off or before the first unlock. Data in transit to iCloud is encrypted by Apple using industry-standard TLS.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or the App's data practices, please contact us via our contact page.
